Lottery Winners |
|
The MegaMillions Lottery was a sponsored lottery in which 13 different
states participated and a winning ticket hadn’t been drawn in several
months. Finally on Wednesday night, the MegaMillions jackpot was won –
by five people in different states. Since the total was so large, each
winner received over 70 million dollars. Each of the winners was
interviewed shortly after discovering they held a winning ticket,
revealing what each first planned to do with the sudden wealth.
Determine the full name of each winner, what state each winner lived
in, and what each planned to do first with their winnings. |

New Schedule |
|
Sally started a new semester at school this week and she’s having a
bit of trouble. Her whole class schedule has changed and she’s still
trying to remember it. The school day has six class periods in it,
referred to as Period 1 through Period 6. That would be simple enough
to remember, but then there are three different buildings that her
classes might be held in – Grant Building, Roosevelt Building, and
Washington Building - and of course, each building has three floors of
classrooms. Thankfully, her classroom numbers were all even numbers
between 2 and 12, and all the numbers were different – otherwise she’d
really be confused! Determine what subject Sally had in each Period,
and the building, floor, and classroom number where each class was
held. |

Winter Vacation |
|
Four coworkers are all going on different vacations during the month
of February. Each proclaimed that they wanted to go somewhere warm for
awhile – they’d seen enough snow for one winter. The rest of their
departments watched them come and go with envy. Each coworker had a
wonderful time and returned to work with a tan and lots of pictures of
their trip. Determine the full name of each vacationer, the city each
is traveling to, the means of transportation being used (one was an
airplane), and how long each vacationer plans to stay (3 to 6 days). |

Super Bowl Snacks |
|
Last weekend was the Super Bowl game, the annual championship game for
the US National Football League (NFL), and a game that was
particularly anticipated this year by nationwide football fans. Greg
and five of his friends were no exceptions, and they all met at Greg’s
home on Sunday afternoon – snacks in hand and decked out in their
favorite team fan gear – ready to enjoy the game on Greg’s large,
widescreen TV. Determine the full name of Greg’s friends, and what
type of snack and drink each brought with them. |

|
Five different boys had a crush on five different girls. During
school, each boy asked the girl out on a date this Saturday night.
Each was very relieved when the girls agreed. Schedules and parents
were arranged for pick-ups and drop-offs so that at 5pm, five young
couples were en-route to a different activity for the evening.
Determine the full name of each boy, the full name of each girl he
asked, and what each couple did on Saturday night. |

Mistaken Deliveries |
|
Larry works at the Millersville Post Office and today he received five
puzzles from various customers. Somehow, five letters were delivered
to the wrong addresses. The strange thing was where the mail was
actually delivered. Usually when mail was delivered incorrectly, it
was to a similar name or street, or sometimes to a different number on
the same street. But the five letters he received today were delivered
across town from where they should have gone, and even stranger, not
one of them was remotely similar to the place it went... |

Christmas Choir Soloists |
|
The high school choir held a concert on the last Saturday evening
before Christmas this year. The choir, made up of both boys and girls,
sang five popular Christmas carols as well as a selection of medleys.
Five of the choir had short solo parts, one each, in the five
Christmas carols. Determine the full name of each soloist, what year
of high school each soloist was currently in (Freshman, Sophomore,
Junior, or Senior), and the name of the Christmas Carol in which each

Hotels at the Conference |
|
Five people fly into town to attend a conference. Unfortunately, hotel
space for the conference had filled up fast so even though they’re
from the same company, the five ended up in different hotels. The good
news is that the hotels were all within walking distance of the
convention center where the conference was being held. The odd thing
about the hotels where they stayed is that all were
individually-owned, rather than part of corporate chains. However,
each was still a very well-rated and successful business... |

Harvest Craft Show |
|
The 38th annual Harvest Craft show, put on by the Millersville Rotary
Club, was held last weekend. Held at the Millersville high school, the
craft show is an annual tradition for the townsfolk and always
attracts a large crowd. This year, 120 dealers setup to sell their
wares - everything from handmade quilts and hand-knitted sweaters to
homemade jellies and fresh honey, to homemade soaps and hand-carved
toys. Five friends visited the craft show together, browsing through
the booths Saturday morning when the craft show first opened. Each
friend ended up buying both a gift for another friend and something

Pet Sitting Weekend |
|
It’s been a busy weekend for Larry. Five people in his neighborhood
left on vacation Saturday morning and each of them left a pet for
Larry to care for until they return. It’s a good thing this week is
school vacation week, so he has lots of time to take care of
everybody! By some odd happenstance, the animals left in his charge
are all different types of animals and each is owned by a person who
lives alone, with just the one animal for company. Determine the name
of each pet’s owner, the name and animal type of each pet, the street
each owner lives on and the number of days that Larry needs to care
for the animals for each owner (3 days to 7 days). |
