Spring has arrived and Julia has the cleaning bug. The day was so warm
and sunny she just couldn’t help herself. It was spring-cleaning time!
She dusted and washed, moved furniture, shook out rugs, scrubbed
windows, and waxed woodwork. She got into a routine where she would
clean two rooms, then take a break, then she’d clean two more rooms,
and then take a break, until she was done (the start times were every
two hours from 9:00AM to 7:00PM). By the end of the day, she was
exhausted…but the house sparkled with cleanliness!..
To celebrate the first snowstorm, Lucy's art teacher had them design
snowflakes and cut them out using pieces of colored construction
paper. When the class was done making them, everyone laid out their
finished snowflakes and the class voted on which were the best
designs. Determine the full name of the classmates who won the class
vote, the color of construction paper each of the winning designs was
cut from, and where each design placed.
Once again, the Smith family converged on Brian and Susan’s house,
this time to celebrate Christmas. The resulting crowd overflowed the
house with all the warmth, noise, boisterousness, and love of a large
family brought together for the holidays. Amongst the siblings, aunts,
uncles, parents, and even grandparents of the Smith family ran a
gaggle of young cousins, seconds cousins, nieces, nephews, sons,
daughters, and grandchildren. Brian worried that their small home
would never recover from the flock of family crowded under its roof;
Susan worried she’d never have enough food to feed everyone...
Summer’s here and it’s hot outside! Yesterday, Sara invited three of
her friends over for a day of fun in the sun, and of course, in the
pool. She had the day all planned with lots of food, activities, and
frolic time in the pool between events. A good time was had by all and
at the end of the day, her friends agreed the party a great success...
Four friends went on their annual fishing trip this past weekend. The
trip heralded the end of summer and was usually their last chance to
spend a weekend together before family, school, and work drew them
away to other concerns. This year was an unusually good year for the
fishing part of the trip and they all arrived home with a few new fish
stories to add to their growing collection...
School has started but there is strife in the Drama department. A big
debate has started between the teachers and the drama students about
what they should do for this winter's play. The principle, tired of
weathering complaints from both teachers and student body, has laid
down the law - a decision must be reached by end of day on Friday or
there will be no play this year...
Monday morning, five people fight their way through commuter traffic
to the subway station on their way to work. Each person needed to get
to a different part of the city for work. Each used a different subway
line, conveniently labeled by color, and each line left at a different
time...
