weekend the town center and green were alive with activities and
townspeople. The weekend started with a series of road races,
sponsored by various downtown businesses and services. Anyone could
participate in the races, adults or children, and some of the races
were serious, while others were humorous, definitely just for fun.
Each race was won by a different individual and the ages of all
winners spanned over 50 years...
A popular ventriloquist comedy act was in town last week. The show was
fantastic and ran for four days during the week. The ventriloquist was
very good and he used a variety of unique puppets that truly came
alive while he talked with them. While he used a variety of puppets
during each show, each night featured a routine with one puppet in
particular and each featured puppet involved only one topic. Determine
the nights that the show ran, the name of each featured puppet and
what topic each talked about, and the time the show started each
night.
Earlier this month, five couples went on a cruise together for their
annual vacation. The trip lasted for a week and the couples spent most
of their time together. Each morning they would meet for breakfast and
decide what to do for the day. On the fourth morning however, the ship
stopped at a tropical island resort and the couples discovered that
everyone wanted to do something different. At length, they decided to
split up for the day and meet back on the ship for supper to share
their adventures with each other...
Four students, all currently in different colleges, decided to travel
during their holiday break this year. Each chose a different location
and a different activity to keep them busy during the holidays. When
their vacation was over, each returned to a different college,
refreshed and ready for a new semester. Determine the full name of
each student, what activity each pursued during their holiday break,
what place each student traveled to, and what city each student
returned to after the holiday break was over...
Sara and her four best friends all enjoyed both their gardens and the
flock of small birds that took up residence with them every year. Each
of them kept bird feeders in their back yard, catering to a flurry of
gold finches, cardinals, chickadees, and many other feathery species.
They often spent lazy summer afternoons relaxing in the shade,
watching the busy activity of the birds flitting to and fro. This
spring, as the friends were busy preparing their gardens for a new
growing season, each noted the arrival of their feathered friends. In
conversation the following day, the five of them were quite surprised
to discover that each of them had a pair of birds building a nest in
the eaves of the roof for one of the structures around their homes,
and of course, each nesting pair of birds was of a different
species...
A company was interviewing people for four jobs that had become available. One Monday morning, four people came in to interview. Each interviewee talked with a different manager about a different job. Determine the full name of each interviewee, the full name of each manager, and the job each interviewed for...
While the northern regions are struggling with yet another snowstorm,
the southern regions are gearing up for spring, and planting time.
This week, four farmers planted seed in the first of their fields. As
it happens, each farmer planted on a different day, in a different
direction, and even planted a different crop...
The Widget Factory has just started a new program for their employees.
From now on, all employees can work on a flexible time schedule. The
employees greeted this new program with great enthusiasm and soon
productivity in all areas was much improved. Determine the full name
of five of the Widget Factory employees, their start times, and the
department in which they work.
Larry and four friends went to the racetrack to witness the big car
race held this past weekend. Five different contenders sped their way
around the track to victory, or defeat. The race ended with no major
crashes and an exciting dead heat to the finish line. The five friends
had such a good time, they made arrangements right on the spot to
return the following month for the next big race...
The MegaMillions Lottery was a sponsored lottery in which 13 different
states participated and a winning ticket hadn’t been drawn in several
months. Finally on Wednesday night, the MegaMillions jackpot was won –
by five people in different states. Since the total was so large, each
winner received over 70 million dollars. Each of the winners was
interviewed shortly after discovering they held a winning ticket,
revealing what each first planned to do with the sudden wealth.

Mrs. Adams took her 4th grade class outside yesterday for their
science lesson because it was such a beautiful day out. The day’s

The Millersville Annual Dog Show was this past weekend and they got a
remarkable turnout this year. Not only did they have contestants in
most breed categories, but they had some qualify for national marks.
Like any other show, there were the inevitable crisis situations but
all were relatively minor, and as well the show had its share of
humorous situations. The highlight of the event was the awarding of
the Best in Show ribbons. As it happens, four places were awarded and
each went to a different dog breed...
Four truckers are hauling loads in their 18-wheelers from Newark, New
Jersey clear across the country to California. The truckers all had
different loads and stopped in different cities for rest breaks on the
way across the country. These truck drivers were all veterans of this
long haul trip and knew the roads and the route well enough to avoid
typical commuter-driven traffic. But without a crystal ball, the
occasional accident, road construction, or even flooded bridge just
can’t be avoided. Each of them got caught in traffic from one such
event that delayed them for a time, but in general their long hauls
went smoothly...
The high school choir held a concert on the last Saturday evening
before Christmas this year. The choir, made up of both boys and girls,
sang five popular Christmas carols as well as a selection of medleys.

The 38th annual Harvest Craft show, put on by the Millersville Rotary
Club, was held last weekend. Held at the Millersville high school, the
craft show is an annual tradition for the townsfolk and always
attracts a large crowd. This year, 120 dealers setup to sell their
wares - everything from handmade quilts and hand-knitted sweaters to
homemade jellies and fresh honey, to homemade soaps and hand-carved
toys. Five friends visited the craft show together, browsing through
the booths Saturday morning when the craft show first opened. Each
friend ended up buying both a gift for another friend and something
for themselves...
Four couples bowl every Friday night in the Millersville Couples-Only
bowling league. They’re about halfway through the first half of the
winter season, and competition is starting to get fierce for
placement. Each night, the couples bowl three games and can win up to
8 points for the night. Last Friday, all four couples moved up in the
league ranks, though none of the couples played each other this week.
