offices. Along with their normal daily offerings, each day they
offered specials that changed from week to week. The specials, which
included a soup, entrée, and dessert, were posted each Friday for the

Beverly Trent was one of the neighborhood’s assigned taxis this week
for the kids’ afternoon activities. She and several of the other
mothers in their neighborhood took turns picking their kids up after
school. Only one of the five she was picking up today was her child.

The Millersville car dealership decided to do something different this
year and so had a grand New Year's morning sale. Since Millersville
was a small community, their one dealership carried a larger selection
of car manufacturers than most dealership. Pretty much any make you
wanted was available, although some manufacturers you had to special
order to get...
Eddie and four of his friends chatted on Facebook last night about the
first snowfalls of the season. Each of the friends lived in a
different northern state and all of them had already gotten a
snowstorm, each on a different day of the week. While the storms were
small so far, only one to three inches, they speculated on how much
snow each area would get during the whole winter. After all, there was
still plenty of winter to come!
Sara really needed to go to the doctor for her check-up... and to her
dentist, chiropractor, and optometrist. All four had been persistently
reminding her that she was overdue for check-ups. But she'd been
travelling a lot for work and just hadn't had the time to make her
appointments...
With spring in the air, everyone's starting to think about spring
clean-up so Jeff spent all week after school and all weekend doing odd
jobs around the neighborhood to earn some spending money. He tilled
gardens, raked leaves, cleaned up tree limbs, pruned hedges, and even
spent one afternoon babysitting!
Four friends met on Saturday morning for breakfast. They hadn’t seen
either other in quite some time and each had other plans during the
evenings all weekend. So they decided to meet on Saturday morning for
a leisurely breakfast instead.
Yesterday, Greg was very busy packing up some gifts to send out to
family and friends. It was a busy month. He had a birthday, an
anniversary, a wedding, and even a house warming to send gifts out
for…and the events all took place in the same week!
The football season was coming to an end and the regional playoffs
were this weekend. Millersville’s high school team, the Bulls, had
made it to the playoffs and hopes were high as the whole town counted
down to the weekend and game time.
Valentine's Day, February 14th, was just yesterday and five couples
celebrated in true Valentine's Day fashion. Each girlfriend received a
gift at work that day.
On Saturday night, five men took five women out to dinner on a blind
date. The dates were set up by a dating service so the couples knew
nothing about each other prior to this evening.
Five couples got engaged during this past year, each in a different
month. Coincidentally, each couple met originally through a dating
service and had no prior experience with each other. A year later, all
five couples got engaged!
Four couples were featured this month on “Room with a View”, the
popular home makeover TV show. The couples were from all over the
United States and each had one “problem” room in their home. The
problem room was typically a room that they just couldn’t utilize
well, either due to its location within the house or how the couple
had it set up...
At lunchtime today, five employees from the Gadget Factory went out to
do their banking. Though Millersville itself wasn’t a large town,
there were many options available in the surrounding area so it wasn’t
unusual that all five employees used different banks or credit unions.
While all made deposits (and it wasn’t even payday!), the odd part was
that each made a deposit to a different type of account...

Since she was still busy unpacking and moving in, she also decided
that she’d tackle the rooms one week at a time. To keep it simple, she
decided she’d start with the main rooms and then finish up the odds
and ends as she got to them...
To add a little fun to the sweltering summer heat, Bella’s Bath and
Body Boutique in downtown Millersville (commonly known as the 4Bs by
her clientele) announced that they were sponsoring a swimsuit contest.
Prizes would be awarded to the winners and judging would be held the
following weekend at Settler’s Pond, a favorite local hang-out that
featured a public beach and town-funded restroom facilities...
A new cooking class, part of the adult education program, started on
Monday night at the local high school. Skip, the class teacher and a
professional chef, was bubbling over with enthusiasm for his new class
and new chance to teach others his love of cooking...
Bagel Alley, the local bagel shop, was always a location of furious
activity during the morning commute as people stopped by to get their
coffee and bagel on the way to work. Fresh made on site each morning,
the bagels were highly popular and the fact that the shop also had
great coffee was like icing on the cake!
Margaret and her girlfriends went shopping yesterday and had a grand
time. They caught some good sales, had a great lunch at the new
Italian restaurant, and headed for home before rush hour. And somehow
each came home with a new pair of shoes – even Sally, who swore she
wasn’t a shoe collector, but yet fell in love with a pair of pumps and
had to get them...
Gene owned a landscaping business and loved his work. For his summer
project this year, he decided to divide the yard around his house into
five different sections and landscape each area to a different style.

Millersville Office Space Specialists were in the business of leasing
office space to local businesses. Last month, construction on their
newest office building was completed and the company hosted a grand
opening of the building, inviting clients and potential clients to
tour the new facilities that the company could now offer...
The marketing department at Gizmo Incorporated just moved into a new
area of the building. There were two rows of cube offices, the left
side row was against the outside wall and the right side row was
against an inner wall. The row against the outside wall had the
advantage of a window but the inner row of cube offices was a little
bigger with more tabletop space...
Elliot and four friends were amateur astronomers and often spent
nights together observing the stars through their telescopes.
Recently, they’d discovered a new way to enjoy their passion – not
just observing the heavens but also photographing them. Using
laptops and digital cameras connected to the telescopes, they
scanned the sky for astronomical phenomena to photograph. On Friday
night, the five friends met for the evening to view the stars. It
was a beautiful night for astronomy...
Cindy had horseback riding lessons twice a week and she loved them.
Her riding instructor told her that she had a natural talent for
riding. She’d been riding for several years now and had graduated to
a smaller, more advanced class. The students in her class all had
their own horses and by some strange coincidence, all of the horses
had different coloring. Determine the first name and age of each
student in Cindy’s class (the students were between 17 and 22 years
old), and the name and coloring of each student’s horse.
Elliot worked for a distributor and looking at his work schedule this
morning, he had a lot of scheduled pickups to get ready for the
trucks. The odd thing about today's work schedule was that all of the
trucks scheduled for pickups were from independent trucking companies
instead of the large trucking companies who handled the bulk of their
shipping...
Linda and four of her friends played a guessing game at lunch time one
day at school. Each was required through the course of the game to
share her birthday month and day. However, each also had to lie once
about either the day or the month of their birthday. It ended up that
three lied about the day of their birthday and two lied about the
month. Determine the full name of each friend, each friend’s real
birthday, and whether each lied about their birthday month or day...

conference each year in Washington, DC. The Foundation had a series of
awards that could be presented during the conference to doctors and
medical professionals who had made a significant contribution to
furthering medical knowledge in a main area of study...
The Worldscapes Convention, the premiere gaming, science fiction, and
fantasy event of the year, takes place this month! By land, sea, and
air, people flock to Indianapolis at this time each year to experience
four packed solid days of gaming, science fiction and fantasy in all
its forms including an art show and writers’ symposium, and an
extensive exhibitor’s room where companies provide gaming
demonstrations, contests, and new product announcements...

and to provide failure analysis reports to determine why the parts

Five roommates met last Wednesday to celebrate Louis’ birthday,
another mutual friend. During the birthday festivities, the roommates
ended up in a cheerful debate about how best to travel in the
traffic-clogged city. While many creative suggestions were offered by
other birthday guests, the roommates decided to try a little test on
their way home that evening...
