Family Barbeque |
|
Mark and Cynthia hosted a family barbeque for their Independence Day
celebration. The day dawned sunny and warm, but not too hot. A perfect
day for a family barbeque! They had a flock of family drop in to visit
throughout the day, but four in particular they were very happy to see
– their siblings with their own families. Both Mark and Cynthia had a
brother and a sister, and they didn’t get to see them much as they
both lived a fair distance away... |

Riding Lessons |
|
Gina’s five children are all avid horse-lovers. Once a week, she
brings each of them to horse-riding lessons. Unfortunately, just as
all her kids are different ages, they’re also at different riding
levels and hence in different classes. To make it more complicated,
each class is on a different day of the week and at a different time.
And to top it off, each child rode a different horse, all of whom have
different names. Poor Gina has a hard time keeping it all straight!.. |

Bees Buzz |
|
Mrs. Adams took her 4th grade class outside yesterday for their
science lesson because it was such a beautiful day out. The day’s
assignment was to draw or sketch something in the natural world, that
they had observed while outside during class. Five of her students
decided to draw bees, and to her great surprise, each not only chose
to draw a different species of bee, but all five of the drawings were
detailed enough that at a glance, the differences between each bee
were apparent... |

Nature Walk Class |
|
Mr. Tate’s science class went on a nature walk last Saturday at the
local bird sanctuary, where they spent the day exploring the residents
of the sanctuary and learning about the different creatures that lived
there. At the end of the day, each student had to choose an animal or
bird species that they had observed during the day and then write a
report about it, which was due the following week. During their day of
exploration, the students saw, not only a number of different
varieties of nesting birds and ducks, but also a large variety of
local wildlife that shared the sanctuary with the migrating birds... |

A Day of Car Racing |
|
Larry and four friends went to the racetrack to witness the big car
race held this past weekend. Five different contenders sped their way
around the track to victory, or defeat. The race ended with no major
crashes and an exciting dead heat to the finish line. The five friends
had such a good time, they made arrangements right on the spot to
return the following month for the next big race... |

Girls Only Weekend |
|
Pamela and four of her friends rented a beach house for a long Girls
Only weekend. In the furor of packing, each woman neglected to pack
something and yet also ended up packing an extra item. By some happy
coincidence, they discovered that the extra items that were packed
covered all of the forgotten items. So with some mixing and matching,
everyone had what they needed to spend a relaxing weekend enjoying the
fine weather, beautiful setting, and the company of good friends... |

The Widget Factory has just started a new program for their employees.

It's review time again at the Widget Factory. Fortunately, it's been a
profitable year and most everyone's getting raises. Based on their
performance level, some employees got a very generous raise while
others got just the average percentage. One department in particular
had five high-performance employees who all got well over the average
percentage. However, since everyone's salary was at a different level,
getting a high percentage raise didn't necessarily mean that they were
getting more money than their fellow employees... |

snowstorm raging outside. Traffic was backed up everywhere due to bad
road conditions and accidents caused by slippery roads and unwary

accidents, all were delayed by the excessive traffic and bad road
conditions. Normally each person had a 15-minute commute to work in
the morning, but today their commutes ranged from 40 minutes to an
