Four students, all currently in different colleges, decided to travel
during their holiday break this year. Each chose a different location
and a different activity to keep them busy during the holidays. When
their vacation was over, each returned to a different college,
refreshed and ready for a new semester. Determine the full name of
each student, what activity each pursued during their holiday break,
what place each student traveled to, and what city each student
returned to after the holiday break was over...
Five people had the lease on their car expire at the end of the year
and each decided to make a big change to their chosen vehicle. Instead
of renewing the lease, each person turned in their leased car, and
bought a totally different car – both the color and the make of each
car bought was different from the original leased car that each
returned. By some strange twist of fate however, while each person
bought a different colored car than what they returned, they all
picked from the same five colors – the five colors that were returned
were all bought again in the new cars, but by different people...
Once again, the Smith family converged on Brian and Susan’s house,
this time to celebrate Christmas. The resulting crowd overflowed the
house with all the warmth, noise, boisterousness, and love of a large
family brought together for the holidays. Amongst the siblings, aunts,
uncles, parents, and even grandparents of the Smith family ran a
gaggle of young cousins, seconds cousins, nieces, nephews, sons,
daughters, and grandchildren. Brian worried that their small home
would never recover from the flock of family crowded under its roof;
Susan worried she’d never have enough food to feed everyone...
Jane’s four kids all wanted to get her a present for Christmas. Each
child counted out the money in their piggy banks – most of which had
come from their allowance money or from doing odd jobs around the
house for Mother. One afternoon close to Christmas, they spent went to
the mall with Father to pick out their gifts for Mother. They had such
a good time shopping that they each ended up buying one gift for
Mother and one gift for themselves. Each child had a different amount
of money to spend and each had a little money leftover after the
shopping spree...

Mickey and the Four Winds band had a jam session last night at the
local pub. The band debuted five new songs during the evening and to
everyone’s surprise, each member of the band took the lead singer’s
role for one of the songs. By the end of the night, the crowd was on
its feet in a standing ovation for the band, whose star was clearly on
the rise. The band members were thrilled with the crowd’s approval of
their new songs – they were afraid that having all of them taking
turns in the lead singer role would turn off the crowd. But they were
earning a reputation for performing their music in new ways and their
fans accepted their performance with eager demands for more...
Earlier this month, five couples went on a cruise together for their
annual vacation. The trip lasted for a week and the couples spent most
of their time together. Each morning they would meet for breakfast and
decide what to do for the day. On the fourth morning however, the ship
stopped at a tropical island resort and the couples discovered that
everyone wanted to do something different. At length, they decided to
split up for the day and meet back on the ship for supper to share
their adventures with each other...

Millersville celebrated the town's 150th anniversary last weekend. All
weekend the town center and green were alive with activities and
townspeople. The weekend started with a series of road races,
sponsored by various downtown businesses and services. Anyone could
participate in the races, adults or children, and some of the races
were serious, while others were humorous, definitely just for fun.
Each race was won by a different individual and the ages of all
winners spanned over 50 years...
Millersville celebrated the town's 150th anniversary last weekend. All
weekend the town center and green were alive with speeches, parades,

The concert was one of the highlights of the festivities and was very
well attended...
One day, five couples took their children to the Millersville High
Flying amusement park for a day of fun in the sun. While each couple
had only one child, they were good friends who often traveled together
so the children got along well together. Everyone enjoyed the day
tremendously, though each child at one time or another managed to get
lost for a time...
One day early this month, five mothers each brought their only child

discovered however, that there was one animal that they particularly
liked and one that each really didn’t like...

the two security guards on duty...
There’s a big jar in Mr. Elliot’s Sweet Ecstasy candy shop, in
downtown Millersville. The jar is filled to bursting with M&Ms in a
rainbow of colors. There’s a small sign before the jar which reads,
“Take a guess! The one closest to the number of M&Ms in the jar by
Saturday night wins the whole jarful!” His jar of M&Ms has been the
favorite subject of discussion all week in Mrs. Field’s class.
Finally, she suggested that the class take a scientific approach and
try to figure out how many M&Ms were in the jar by running a series of
experiments...
Little League baseball is in full swing now and tomorrow night’s game
features the local favorites, the Tigers, against their returning
rivals, the Cubs, from the next town over. For the players’ parents,
anticipation was high for an excellent game as both teams were
performing well within their divisions. Five players in particular on
the Tigers team were expected to shine – these star players had all
been playing exceptionally well within the last few weeks and their
parents couldn’t be prouder of them...
Steven is a big motorcycle enthusiast and travels all over the country
to attend motorcycle rallies. This past weekend, there was a large one
in Indiana that he and three friends attended. Since each of them was
coming from a different location in the United States, they made plans
to meet at the rally the day before it started, so they’d have a
little extra time to visit together. Steven was the first to arrive,
he checked into the hotel and settled down at the local diner, which
is where they all agreed to meet, to wait for the rest. He didn’t beat
any of them by much, and they had a great lunch together while
catching up on each other’s latest news...
After lunch, Mrs. Fields rearranged her fourth grade class into groups
of three children each for a special project. The day's lessons had
revolved around Geography and the use of maps. She had a special
project planned for this afternoon which involved road maps. The
children would be plotting a driving route from Millersville to
Springtown, a town roughly to the east and about 100 miles away. Mrs.
Fields had decided to turn the project into a small contest - there
were five different routes that could be taken to Springtown, each
using different roads - the groups of student's who correctly plotted
all five routes would win a prize!..
Spring has arrived and Julia has the cleaning bug. The day was so warm
and sunny she just couldn’t help herself. It was spring-cleaning time!
She dusted and washed, moved furniture, shook out rugs, scrubbed
windows, and waxed woodwork. She got into a routine where she would
clean two rooms, then take a break, then she’d clean two more rooms,
and then take a break, until she was done (the start times were every
two hours from 9:00AM to 7:00PM). By the end of the day, she was
exhausted…but the house sparkled with cleanliness!..
Located in a historical grand Victorian house, Handy Matters, the
local crafting supply store, was very busy on this April morning in
Millerstown. Five women had bustled in with spring fever in their eyes
and bubbling enthusiasm on their lips. They were going to redo their
curtains for spring! With great delight, the five women studied
fabrics and conversed with each other and the shop owner, Sally, about
colors and decorating rooms and their love of sewing. As it happens,
each woman was planning to redo the curtains in a different room of
the house, and their final fabric selections were all different
prints...
